Quite frankly, after 17 years of teaching full time, I have found that in order succeed in a program such as my Living Zen program, you need to be in a place in your life where you are ready to embrace big change.
If you still feel the need to cling to your limitations, (most people do) please wait a few years to apply (when you are ready.) Space is limited to only 9 local members and 9 long distance members (as I write this, half the slots have been filled.)

Dear Friend,
I invite you to experience a life-changing journey. The journey of Living Zen. Zen means presence, to fully experience and embrace this moment without attachment, judgment or inner resistance to the "isness" of this moment. Living Zen means to fully embrace the game of life and the dance of form, while experiencing inner-peace along the journey. To experience this you must understand the 2 elements to your life: Emptiness and form. Another way to say the same thing is presence and time. I will explain:
The word HUMAN-BEING is broken into 2 parts. The "being" in you does not change. The "being" part of you is the same from when you were born. Think about this. You are the same "you" as you were as a child. This part of you is both timeless and eternal. This is the "observer" that watches as you play the game of life. To be keenly aware of the observer is a part of Zen. This makes you light. This makes you playful. This is your connection to the universe. This is when you completely allow your life to unfold without resistance. This is what gives you joy and inner peace.
The "human" part of you is what creates your reality day-to-day. This is often filled with the "monkey mind" that is concerned with past and future, and creates problems to solve. This is the never-ending voice in the head that wants to resist, judge and cling. This is the part of you that fears death, and generally resists endings. This is also the part that designs your life – for better or worse. Unlike the "being", the human part of you is very different from when you were a child, and different than a moment ago (although that is harder to see.) Like all form, it is always changing. If you do not take care of the "human" you will suffer. You will suffer physically if your body is not strong, you will suffer mentally if you do not design your life.
The funny thing is that even if you make your body strong, and design your life the way you want it, if you do not experience Zen (the "being" part) you will still suffer. The media is full of stories of seemingly strong, talented, successful people (many in the entertainment industry) that experience inner turmoil and depression. An onlooker might wonder why they are so unhappy, when they have so many material possessions. But to anyone that understands this dual dynamic of life, the reason is obvious. They do not experience Zen – their world is all "human" and no "being."
So before you sell your possessions and move to the mountains to meditate, I have another suggestion.
Before I tell you, I will be completely honest with you and admit that this takes constant work. There is no "punching out" in the game of life. The mindset of "I really need a break" adds to suffering. (Hint: it is not a break you are really looking for.) If this scares you, please read no further. This is not a "9 to 5" concept – your life does not work that way. From the "human" viewpoint we have 168 hours in a week. From the "being" viewpoint there is no time, only the now.
I am talking with you about merging the human and the being. To set and achieve your goals and outcomes while experiencing Zen. You will learn to manage the 5 areas of your reality: mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and financial. If you want "success" in these areas you must set goals, design intelligent plans and hold yourself accountable for your actions. This is the world of form. Nature has its own laws – and you and I must adhere to them. The polar opposite of this (and seemingly contradictory) is the Zen, the presence. The non-attachment that creates inner-peace, that, allows your life to unfold, keeping the "observer" active, staying playfully unattached to your focused, laser-like goals. This turns into the merging of inner and outer purpose. The word for that is Dharma. (You will learn about this in the training.)
I have been practicing this for 20 years and I will tell you it is both a destination and a journey. The destinations are your measurable goals, the journey is presence, and this does not end. At the request of a handful of students and instructors, I have recently arranged my schedule to make room for 18 serious students (9 local and 9 national) who want to work personally with me to design their dream life while learning strategies for applying Zen to every moment. As I write this, half the slots have already been taken, so there will be a waiting list very soon. (Please see our program director if there is still space available.) This is not a pill, potion or lotion. This is 100% about you. This takes work. This takes action. This takes sweat. This takes commitment. If I could give you a magic potion I would. But as you know, it does not work this way.
So before you race to the bottom of this letter and apply for acceptance I will try to "discourage" you from applying. As I write this, I have 10 studio owners that I work with in this way (there is a waiting list – I only take 10.) If they do not do the work, that is their problem, not mine. If I feel like I am not using my time well, I fire them. This may sound harsh, but this level of focus keeps everyone "on purpose".
This also eliminates any "entitlement mentality". You are entitled to nothing, not even the air you breathe, because one day (very soon) you will no longer be able to breathe. So be grateful for this moment, be grateful for this breath you are taking now, be grateful for your opportunity to grow and develop and be grateful for life. Note that I did not say be great full for "your" life. "Life" is not yours. You are connected to the whole and you have a relatively very short time to experience being a human (human-being).
From this viewpoint, you know when you will die. You will die in the "now". Just as you live in the "now". From a viewpoint of time (the human part), of course you do not know how many years (or days, or hours or even minutes) you have left. Think about this.
Living Zen is not therapy, nor do I allow venting or any other nonsense. When we meet personally (or on the phone), you show up with your stated goals, and questions for me. You must do the work. No one will care more about you than you. Please only apply if you are willing to accept full responsibility for your reality.

This program is not for the faint of heart. You will train. You will sweat. You will grow. You will set and achieve your goals. Please do not apply if you are not willing to focus your energies in building your dream life.
Peace and Blessings,,

P.S. Almost forgot – you will develop a "reading habit" if you do not already have one. Think of it as upgrading your big screen TV for a library. I will give you individual books to read. Developing a daily reading habit will serve you for life. (Most Americans do not read daily.)
P.P.S. Scared? Good. Make a decision. Face your fear or run from it. If you're thinking "Yeah, I'd love to do this, but…" remember that greatness and "ya buts" are mutually exclusive. You cannot have both – you must choose one or the other.
P.P.P.S. Picture your life as you want it. Feel the inner-peace, the joy, the love you want to experience. How does that make you feel? This visualization exercise moves you closer to your goal of making it a reality for you.
P.P.P.P.S. I work with many entrepreneurs. If you are an entrepreneur part of our time together (optional) can be implementing strategies for greater abundance. (When I work with studio owners, my requirement is that my consulting fee is paid for by increased revenues within 90 days.)
P.P.P.P.P.S. The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. Perhaps more accurate is that it begins with a spark of inspiration. Inspiration is useless if not acted upon. Consider this point deeply. Do you take action or do you sit around "wishing?" Wishing will not change you life – action will. Take action today.
